On Tuesday 12th May, the Malaysian and Indonesian governments announced that they would be refusing entry to boatloads of desperate and hungry Rohingya and Bangladeshi men, women and children fleeing persecution in Myanmar or dire poverty in their lands. Tan Kok Kwee, First Admiral of Malaysia’s Maritime Enforcement Agency said, “We won’t let any foreign boats come in” and that the navy would provide “provisions and send them away.”

On Saturday 28th March 2015, the Women's Section of the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir successfully hosted a historic, unprecedented International Women's Conference entitled, "Women and Shariah: Separating Fact from Fiction". It was a momentous event that united gatherings of female-opinion makers held simultaneously across 3 continents and in 5 countries: Palestine, Turkey, Indonesia, Tunisia, and Britain.

The UN will use March 8th International Women's Day this year to highlight the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a roadmap signed by 189 governments 20 years ago to improve the rights and lives of women through advancing the struggle for gender equality within nations. The agreement, covered 12 areas of concern affecting women, including poverty, violence, educational rights, armed conflict, and power and decision-making.

On the 29th January 2015, Bangladesh's Social Welfare Minister, Mohsin Ali, speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of a girl's hostel in Moulovibazar, Sylhet, said, "No one can be a college student wearing the burka...Today, Europe looks at those who wear the burqa with disgust and thinks them to be Islamic terrorists....Tomorrow will let us taste where we have brought Islam to in society today".
