1500 members of Hizb ut Tahrir / Indonesia demonstrated on Friday, 12 Rabii II 1434 AH, corresponding to 22 February 2013 in front of the Jakarta governor's office, demanding the governor (Jokowi) not to allow the plan to renew and expand the U.S. embassy in Jakarta. A delegation of Hizb ut Tahrir met with the governor to discuss the issue with him. The activity was attended by representatives from other Islamic groups; Muhammadiyah, Ansar al-Tawhid, Mir - Cee, Indonesia's Muslim Brotherhood, stressing that the goal of expansion of the U.S. embassy is to strengthen U.S. influence in colonial Indonesia.
