The Solution to the Problem of Expensive Electricity is to Declare This Sector Under Public Ownership!

Despite repeated tariff hikes, the circular debt of the power sector is increasing, while the government is also taking steps to recover capacity charges through fixed charges in the bills. The capitalist system does not protect the interests of the people but the interests of a few capitalists. The problem is handing over the power sector to the private sector and to top it off, are the cruel contracts that allow the power plant owners to make a profit. Islam has declared the power sector to be public property because the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, المسلمون شركاء في ثلاث: في الماء والكلأ والنار “Muslims are partners in three things: water, pastures and fire (energy)” [Ahmed]. The Khilafah (Caliphate) established on the method of Prophethood will provide cheap electricity to the people by making the power sector publicly owned.
