The International Criminal Court is a Toy: To be Sanctified or Thrown Away Depending upon the Interests of the United States of America
News:
Fox News reported on the 24th May, 2024 that “UN court demands ‘Israel’ halt Rafah offensive, but government vows 'we will destroy Hamas'” included an interview with Netanyahu where the interviewer opened by showering praise on the Netanyahu and heaped condemnation upon the International Criminal Court (ICC), which earlier recommended issuing arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Comment:
The suggestion of arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant angered many US politicians. US President Biden said, "The ICC prosecutor’s application for arrest warrants against ‘Israeli’ leaders is outrageous, and let me be clear: whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence – none – between ‘Israel’ and Hamas. We will always stand with ‘Israel’." US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called the ICC announcement "shameful.”
Blinken also questioned the legal jurisdiction of the ICC: "The United States has been clear since well before the current conflict that that ICC has no jurisdiction over this matter. The ICC was established by its state parties as a court of limited jurisdiction. Those limits are rooted in principles of complementarity, which do not appear to have been applied here amid the Prosecutor’s rush to seek these arrest warrants rather than allowing the ‘Israeli’ legal system a full and timely opportunity to proceed." So in his words, the Zionist entity should be granted a “timely opportunity to proceed” when the only thing that is proceeding is the slaughter and starvation of the people of Gaza and the destruction of their properties and civic infrastructure. How callous the US-dominated ‘World Order’ is!
Republican Senators filed a resolution in the Senate seeking to: “impose financial sanctions and visa bans on officials of the International Criminal Court for an abuse of power that threatens United States interests and weakens United States allies.” Earlier, the House of Representatives passed a bill that aims to override presidential authority to send arms to the Zionist entity, which Biden has done anyway after a temporary pause.
While the Zionist entity is afforded every opportunity to continue its crimes against the people of the land of Israa’ and Mi’rage, the Arab rulers and those ensnared by them keep on watching and calling upon the colonial Western powers and their institutions to take the pressure of themselves by giving some small hope of salvation. The only salvation will be when they are assigned to the dustbin of history.
