Tajikistan will be Connected to the Chinese Internet

News:

In the near future, a direct connection of telecommunications networks of the Republic of Tajikistan with telecommunications networks of the People's Republic of China will be implemented, Khovar reports this with reference to the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

“In order of quick implementation a direct connection between the telecommunications networks of the Republic of Tajikistan and the telecommunications networks of the People's Republic of China, practical work is currently being carried out at a rapid pace. It is worth noting that these measures contribute to the creation of additional high-speed international fiber-optic communication lines to connect to global Internet networks. This will also increase the significance and transit potential of the country’s telecommunications networks and eliminate the republic’s communication isolation”, - the government news agency is informing.

Comment:

It should be noted that today Tajikistan has one of the slowest Internet services in the world; all traffic passes through the main monopolist of the industry, the Communication Service, headed by the matchmaker of the President of Tajikistan, Beg Sabur. Reporters Without Borders reported that major news sites and social media platforms were blocked almost constantly.

However, what awaits Tajik users after connecting to the Chinese Internet? It is well known that China has the world’s strictest form of censorship in the field of telecommunications and the Internet, all international Internet resources and social networks are blocked, the use of VPN services is prohibited, and all foreign instant messengers are blocked. There are also huge fines and criminal penalties for bypassing government firewalls.

It is obvious that the connection of Tajikistan’s networks with Chinese telecommunications promises the residents of our country a serious reduction in access to truthful information about what is happening, which will lead to even greater isolation of the population from the outside world.
