‘Alliance of Necessity’ Can Never Solve Our Problems

News:

The recently established ‘alliance of necessity’ between the two major opposition parties — the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and the Pakistan People’s Party — fell apart on Wednesday when their leaders traded allegations of corruption against each other and ruled out the possibility of any alliance between them in future.

Minutes after PTI chairman Imran Khan alleged that the PPP and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had entered into a ‘deal’ to save each other from facing accountability, the PPP leaders in their statements accused the cricketer-turned-politician of doing politics through use of ‘black money’. Comment:

A fully fledged working democracy is the goal of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Each action of his is done with the aim of fixing the system and to make it a realization. Targeting the current corrupt Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, means that Imran Khan has taken many pragmatic moves that have also backfired.

Allying himself with the PPP whose head was known as Mr 10%, a nickname often referred to Asif Ali Zardari, by his critics in response to his reputation of money laundering has proven (as if this was needed) to not be the best way to address or remove corruption.

After Asif Ali Zardari made his own alliances and political maneuvers the light is finally shining for Imran Khan to move away from this personality. “Alliances are made between the parties having similar manifestos. The main issue here is that of corruption,” Imran Khan said, adding, “Since Asif Zardari is the head of the PPP, we cannot make any alliance with them.”

Politicians are meant to have vision as well as sincerity to lead the people and raise their level in all fields of human interaction. In all societies we find someone is given leadership and today there is a real leadership vacuum. Naivety and pragmatism, compromise and manipulation is the hallmark of the current players of the political landscape. Seeing this turns people away and makes many despair of politics and politicians.

Islamic politics is far removed from the inherent corrupt democratic system. In Islam siyasah is based on the concept of looking after the affairs of the people not looking after ones pocket, climbing a ladder of self defined success or even a quest of quashing corruption for the sake of it. ‘Alliances of necessity’ exist in the current political vacuum because standards are so low that you can sign a deal with the devil and then become surprised at getting burnt! It is high time our politicians look at their actions in line with their Aqeedah of Islam and not the false aqeedah of Jamooriat (Democracy) that they assume will be our salvation.

The success of the Khulafah Rashideen and the many correctly guided Khulafah after them came about from their sincerity, vision and concern that emanated from their unique viewpoint in life. So their prayers and their politics emerged from the same thought and hence they led the Ummah correctly to her purpose in life which was to be a guiding light for humanity.

Allah (swt) tells us:

﴿كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ

“You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah.” [3:110]
