Police arrested four members of banned militant organisation Hizb-ut-Tahrir on Thursday for bringing out a procession in the capital protesting arrival of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Hillary is expected to arrive in Dhaka on May 5.
The arrest was made around noon when nearly 25 Tahrir activists of the banned Islamist outfit brought out a procession before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to denounce the arrival of Hillary Clinton, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Syed Nurul Islam.
Police also charged batons to disperse the procession that also demanded the establishment of an Islamic rule in the country, The DC said.
The Tahrir men also demanded release of the party leaders and activists had arrested on different occasions, the DMP high official added.
The US secretary of state, between her trip to China and India, will arrive in Bangladesh on Saturday for a brief visit and is expected to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, according to a highly placed source at the Prime Minister's Office.
