Imperialist Powers Clash over Control of Libya

The world media has projected the conflict within Libya as a conflict between Muslim factions but in reality this is a conflict between external disbelieving world powers carried out through their agents within Libya, agents who have often spent decades living in the West. Britain is trying to hold on to Tripoli, whilst America, working through its agent Haftar, is attempting to take full control of Libya. Previously, the G-7 foreign ministers conference taking place at the time of Haftar’s move towards Tripoli was paused so that the assembled representatives could issue a joint statement against his actions. But the underlying conflict between these powers is becoming all too apparent now. According to the Washington Post:

The White House said Friday that President Trump, in a phone call with renegade Libyan general Khalifa Hifter, praised Hifter for fighting terrorism and protecting Libya’s oil, comments that were far afield from the administration’s stated policy on Libya.

Hifter, whose militia forces have long controlled eastern Libya, launched an offensive early this month to seize Tripoli, the capital, and oust the U.N.-backed government.

Amid heavy fighting that threatens all-out urban warfare, the United Nations and many countries — including the United States — have called for an immediate cease-fire.

The State Department and the Defense Department have publicly urged Hifter to stand down and join U.N.-led negotiations with the National Accord government headed by Prime Minister Fayez Serraj. In a sharply worded statement last week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the United States was “deeply concerned” and that “we have made clear that we oppose the military offensive” by Hifter’s forces.

The White House statement, released four days after Trump’s previously unreported call on Monday, made no mention of Hifter’s offensive, a cease-fire or the U.N. effort. Referring to Hifter as “Field Marshal,” it said he and Trump discussed “a shared vision for Libya’s transition to a stable, democratic political system.”

The White House declined to respond to questions about the call or how it came about. Calls with the president are normally reserved for fellow heads of government.

And according to Reuters:

The United States and Russia both said on Thursday they could not support a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Libya at this time, diplomats said, as mortar bombs crashed down on a suburb of the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

Russia objects to the British-drafted resolution blaming eastern Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar for the latest flare-up in violence when his Libyan National Army (LNA) advanced to the outskirts of Tripoli earlier this month, diplomats said…

The U.S. reluctance to support Security Council action is in contrast to Washington’s earlier public opposition to Haftar’s offensive, which began while U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was visiting Tripoli.

And in another Reuters report:

France on Wednesday blocked a European Union statement calling on Khalifa Haftar to halt his eastern forces’ offensive in Libya, diplomatic sources said, in the latest example of how the bloc’s internal divisions have undercut its global sway.

The draft statement, seen by Reuters, would have said that the military attack launched by Haftar on Tripoli was “endangering the civilian population, disrupting the political process and risks further escalation with serious consequences for Libya and the wider region, including the terrorist threat.”

Meanwhile, also in the Washington Post:

The foreign ministers of Italy and France say their countries are trying to forge a common strategy on Libya.

Italy’s minster, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, told reporters Friday after the two held talks in Rome that lower-ranking ministry officials will meet next week in the Italian capital “to build the path toward a goal that remains a shared one.”

French Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian says there’ll be no progress toward ending the current fighting in Libya “without a solid Franco-Italian agreement.”

Italy and France both have energy and other strategic interests in Libya.

This competition, struggle and conflict between the disbelieving powers, who otherwise seemed to be fully unified over their joint statement earlier this month, should give confidence to Muslims that it is not in reality the Muslims that are disunited but rather the disbelievers who harbour hatred and jealousy in their hearts towards each other. Allah (swt) already warned us of this in the Noble Qur’an:

They will not fight you all except within fortified cities or from behind walls. Their violence among themselves is severe. You think they are together, but their hearts are diverse. That is because they are a people who do not reason.” [al-Hashr:14]

With Allah’s permission, the re-established righteous Islamic Khilafah (Caliphate) State on the method of the Prophet (saw) shall rapidly reunify Muslim lands and provide a singular Muslim leadership that implements Islam and carried its light to the entire world.

America Fails to Arrange even an Informal Meeting between its Kabul Puppets and the Taliban Leaders

According to an AFP report in the Telegraph:

Hopes for a breakthrough in a push to end Afghanistan's gruelling conflict suffered a major setback Friday after a key summit between the Taliban and Afghan officials was indefinitely postponed.

The so-called intra-Afghan dialogue, due to take place in Doha this weekend, fell apart at the last minute in a row over the large number of delegates Kabul wanted to send.

The collapse comes at a critical time and amid continued bloodshed. The Taliban now control or influence about half of Afghanistan and 3,804 civilians were killed there last year, according to a UN tally.

Washington, which is leading an effort to end the war, signalled its disappointment and urged both sides to return to the table, though organisers gave no hint about when the conference might be rescheduled…

President Ashraf Ghani's administration had on Tuesday announced a list of 250 people from all walks of Afghan life, including government figures, who it wanted to send to Doha.

But the Taliban poured scorn on the lengthy list, saying the conference is "not an invitation to some wedding or other party at a hotel in Kabul".

Though the insurgents insisted they would only talk to Ghani's government in a "personal capacity", any contact between the two parties in Doha would have been hugely significant, especially at a time when Afghanistan is being ripped by fresh violence after the Taliban announced their annual spring offensive…

Analyst Michael Kugelman of the Wilson Center in Washington said the breakdown illustrated the tough path ahead for peace…

"If an event billed as a mere informal ice-breaker causes so many problems, imagine what could happen when it's time to put something more formal together"…

US Special Representative to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad said he was "disappointed" the summit had been postponed…

After US-Taliban talks in February, Khalilzad announced a "draft framework" for a peace deal, though he warned major hurdles remain.

It is an indication of the extreme pressure that America is under that the only way they were able to engage the Taliban in negotiations was by giving in to Taliban demands to discuss directly with America only and not its puppet regime in Kabul. Even this must was only achieved after applying extreme pressure to the Taliban through the American agents in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the Taliban continue their ground war against the US occupation, announcing their Spring offensive this month.

America is undoubtedly a superpower, with the strongest military on the planet. But America is limited in its ability to project its vast power across the other side of the globe into landlocked Afghanistan. The Muslim Ummah need to be more aware of its own inherent strengths and of the foreign disbelievers’ weaknesses. Nothing stands in the way of our taking control of our own affairs other than the narrow limitations of our ambitions.

West Readily Contradict their Proclaimed Values whenever they wish

According to the Hill:

Press freedom group Reporters without Borders warned in a report published Thursday that politicians' attacks on the media have resulted in hostile climate for reporters.

"The hostility towards journalists expressed by political leaders in many countries has incited increasingly serious and frequent acts of violence that have fueled an unprecedented level of fear and danger for journalists," the report said… The report also classified the U.S. media climate as "problematic" attributing the classification to "an increasingly hostile climate that goes beyond Donald Trump’s comments."

"Never before have US journalists been subjected to so many death threats or turned so often to private security firms for protection," the report said. The U.S. has fallen three places in Reporters without Borders's World Press Freedom Index ranking, now coming in 48th out of 180 countries surveyed. The group annually publishes the rankings to measure media freedom.

The West only formally adopted the rather meaningless values of freedom and democracy under pressure from revolutionaries rising up against Church and King. The West’s true creed is material benefit which it pursues in the service of its Capitalist elites. This is in sharp contrast to Islam, which rejects fantastical absolutes such as freedom and democracy and instead lists a wide range of specific well-defined rights and duties, fixed for all time and place, and inviolable even by rulers. The West have tried to create something similar though their constitutionalism; but they continue to fail because of elite capture of their systems. With Allah’s permission, the world shall soon witness again the glory and justice of Islam.
