On the 24th of September 2022 the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), an amalgam of religious and social groups in the Kashmir Valley, on Saturday said attempts were underway “to undermine the Muslim identity of Kashmir”. The MMU organised a meeting in Srinagar’s Jama Masjid to discuss the recent measures to start singing Hindu hymns and Surya Namaskar in educational institutes of the Valley.

On Friday, 16 September 2022, BBC reported on the death of a 22-year-old Iranian woman after she was arrested by morality police for allegedly not complying with strict rules on head coverings. Her arrest led to her being sent to hospital for a head injury which caused her to go into a coma over a number of days.

The Proposed School Hijab Ban in Denmark Demonstrates Once Again the Fine Line Between Secularism and Fascism

On the 25th of August, a Commission appointed by the Danish government recommended a ban on girls wearing Hijab in primary schools across the country. The ban, which is based on the prejudicial and unevidenced premise that young Muslim girls are forced by their families to wear the Hijab, would apply at public, private and free elementary schools.
