Political Address at Al-Hilal Club, South of the Port Sudan Market

Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Sudan held a political address on Monday, 23 Jumada al-Awwal 1446 AH, corresponding to 25 November 2024, at Al-Hilal Club, south of the main market in Port Sudan. The address was titled:

“Wealth Belongs to Allah, and People Are Its Trustees.”

The speaker, Ustaadh Yaqub Ibrahim, a member of Hizb ut Tahrir, discussed the foundational principles of the Islamic economic system and its ability to resolve the crises faced by Sudan. He highlighted Sudan's vast resources and potential, juxtaposing this with the poverty endured by its people. Ibrahim attributed this predicament to the implementation of a Western capitalist economic system, dominated by capitalist nations and their colonial tools, such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

He explained Islam's clear stance on wealth, its acquisition, expenditure, and development, and emphasized that the economic problem in Islam lies in the distribution of wealth rather than its scarcity, as claimed by capitalists. The speaker also elaborated on the different types of ownership in Islam, particularly public ownership, which is abundant in Sudan. He argued that Sudan only requires a strong state to implement the Islamic system so its people can benefit from the country's wealth. He affirmed that this will be achieved, Inshallah, through the establishment of the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of Prophethood, which is imminent by Allah's permission.

The audience engaged actively with the address. One elder enthusiastically declared, while holding the Liwaa’ emblazoned with the Shahada (La ilaha illa Allah Muhammad Rasool Allah": "We want this Raya to be raised and for the state to be established on the basis of Islam." Another attendee asked: "Why doesn’t the state implement the Islamic system today to achieve justice and security?"

Ust. Yaqub responded to the questions, comments, and inquiries in a sophisticated manner, which was well-received by the attendees.
