Press Release
Proposal to Ban Hizb ut Tahrir - A Sign of Ideological Bankruptcy

On the 25th of February 2015, several media reported that a wide majority in the Danish parliament supports the government's proposal to ban Hizb ut Tahrir. Thus, they have once again asked the Attorney General to look into the possibility of a ban.

This is not the first time that this ban is proposed in Denmark. In 2008, the Attorney General came to the natural conclusion that there is no legal basis for banning Hizb ut Tahrir, since it is globally known that Hizb ut Tahrir is an ideological political party. Our work is political, and we call to certain thoughts. Acts of violence have absolutely no place in our method, because Hizb ut Tahrir is bound by the work-method of the Prophet Muhammad (saw).

When MPs still talk about a ban, and even declare that they wish, the Attorney General could legally authorize it, this says a lot about the dwindling level of confidence in their own principles and values, if they have any such. The Justice Minister, Mette Frederiksen (S), said, "My own view is that this organisation should be dissolved", whereby she not only expressed that Muslims can be guilty without any proof, but that Muslims can be guilty even when the opposite is factually proven.

The Danish politicians wish to walk in the footsteps of the despotic regimes in the Islamic world, whom they have supported for decades, in an attempt to use coercion and bans against thoughts and political opposition, which they cannot counter with arguments in a useful debate.

Once again, these politicians propose to ban Hizb ut Tahrir for calling to the Islamic values and political solutions in words and thought, while they speak of freedom of expression at the same time. If it had not already become clear to everyone, the unlimited hypocrisy would be worth pointing out. Our party has long argued that freedom of expression is an illusion and a political tool used to demean those who think differently. The politicians have now again confirmed this with their own actions.

After planting the seeds of hatred and discord for years from the parliament podium and with their domestic and foreign policy, these career-politicians now attempt to score cheap voter-points by playing on the tangents of fear and mass hysteria. This latest wish for a ban has nothing to do with national security, but probably quite a lot to do with career-ambitions in relation to the coming elections.

The Danish politicians, with the Justice Minister in front, neglected, in their thoughtless desperation, the fact that no ban or coercion can stop ideas from spreading. Our stance is firm. The support for our ideas is growing in all the countries where we work - with or without a ban. We have total confidence in the truth of the thoughts and values that we carry, and we will continue calling to them at all times.

"Say: ‘This my way: I invite unto Allah- on evidence clear as the seeing with one's eyes; I and whoever follows me. Glorified and Exalted be Allah! And I am not among those who associate partners with Allah!'" [Yusuf 12:108]
