Press Release
The fate of the new Stalinist Inquisition is the same as the extinct one
The Russian Supreme Court heard last Tuesday an appeal of 12 Muslims activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir from the republic of Tatarstan. In 2007, they were tried in a kangaroo court reminiscent of the old Stalinist Inquisition era (not unlike the infamous Guantanamo Bay camp X ray), where the prosecutors' sole evidence was some secret evidence and, believe it or not, Islamic literature.
The director of Russia's Human Rights Institute, Valentin Gefter, speaking at a Moscow news conference, said the issue at stake in the appeal is not the state's war against terrorism, but rather against independent ideas. According to him, this is a "struggle against all those who may presumably think differently from local and federal authorities".
on 14 May 2010[1] we had commented, on a similar case, that " books and pamphlets have become dangerous species, that is if you dare think and speak outside the official "Big Brother" Double speak then you are accused of being a terrorist".
The world public opinion had thought that the extinct Stalinist Inquisition era was over, and that "never again" was meant a cry of justice and freedom for the downtrodden and oppressed.
It is a great shame for the global media to be silent accomplice in this new Terror campaign by the descendents of Stalinist mentality who hold no respect for human dignity.
Yet the intellectual political struggle goes on, where Hizb ut Tahrir's members remain steadfast to their beliefs as witnesses to mankind to the new horizon the whole humanity aspires to.
The world over knows very well that HT does not condone violence, nor has it ever resorted to any violence whatsoever in its long record as a political party. This is a matter of principle to HT as we are obliged to follow the methodology of the prophet Mohammed peace be upon him.
