Press Release
Hizb ut-Tahrir cancels demonstration against Musharraf after report of likely violence between APML and PML-N

London, UK, October 8th 2010 - Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain has cancelled its planned demonstration for tomorrow (Saturrday October 9th) after reports in the Pakistani media of the likelihood of "running battles" between Pervez Musharraf's All Pakistan Muslim league (APML) and Nawaz Sharif's PML-N on the streets of Manchester as Musharraf attempts to launch his political comeback in Manchester tomorrow.

Taji Mustafa, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain said: "Hizb ut-Tahrir is not interested in the petty politics of the APML and PML-N whose leaders have always placed their own interests and the interests of their colonial masters before the interests of the Ummah. While drone attacks continue to rain down and people in the flooded areas of Pakistan remain destitute, Musharraf and Sharif have spent the last week trading insults and point scoring when both of them have a record of servitude to the colonialists, corruption and mismanagement."

"Hizb ut-Tahrir believes in real Islamic politics which is taking care of the affairs of the Ummah and therefore the demonstration has been cancelled as we do not want to stoop to the level of these politicians who have passed their use by dates - these politicians are produced by the capitalist system which looks after the interests of the colonialists and the elites while the masses suffer."

"The people of Pakistan are looking for real leadership, not the recycled figures of the past and only the Khilafah "Caliphate" will provide this real leadership."

"Hizb ut-Tahrir will continue to challenge and expose the likes of Musharraf, Zardari and Sharif who are all slaves of America, but we will do so by continuing to adhere to the high Islamic values not the Machiavellian politics of the West."
