Taji Mustafa of Hizb ut-Tahrir accounts UK Ambassador to Afghanistan at Public Meeting
London 27th January 2010 - At a public meeting in London last night, Britain's Ambassador to Afghanistan Mr Mark Sedwill addressed an audience of journalists in the run up to the London Afghanistan conference on Thursday.
Mr Sedwill had just returned from Brussels having been appointed as NATO's Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan.
After the address, Taji Mustafa, media representative for Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain rose to address the Ambassador face to face. Taji Mustafa said: "I am from Hizb ut-Tahrir, an organisation which has a presence in Afghanistan. Since the invasion in 2001, corruption, drug production and instability has increased under the policies of Britain the US and NATO. The western powers who presided over the last 8 years are in no position to provide a way forward for Afghanistan. This London Afghanistan conference is simply an attempt to recycle failed ideas."
Mr Mustafa said that it was time for the disastrous colonial occupation to end. Mr Sedwill responded saying that he disagreed. He then lamely attempted to justify the West's continued occupation of Afghanistan denying it was an occupation.
Taji Mustafa also announced that Hizb ut-Tahrir would be releasing a report on Wednesday 27th January 2010 addressing the disastrous Western intervention in Afghanistan, its critical effects in Pakistan and the Islamic solution that would bring stability and security to the region.
The Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "The best jihad is the word of truth to a tyrant ruler". [Tirmidhi]
