Thousands attend Hizb ut-Tahrir's London Conference: The Struggle for ISLAM and the call for Khilafah
Thousands of delegates attended Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain's national Conference: The Struggle for Islam and the call for Khilafah "Caliphate" in London today, on 26th July 2009.
The conference was opened by Dr Abdul Wahid, Chairman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain's Executive Committee, who addressed the increasing anti-Islamic propaganda in the West and globally. Using the issue of terrorism and extremism Western governments have embarked on a campaign to prevent the Muslim world establishing an Islamic government, the Caliphate that will free the Muslim world from the terror and hegemony that has been brought upon by the West. On a daily basis Muslims are subjected to insults and attacks in the media on their Aqeeda, the hijab, Shariah and Khilafah "Caliphate". He argued that, in this critical time, Muslims needed to hold onto Islamic values living in the West, and resist the attempts to reform Islam, and to support the call for the Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate" in the Muslim world - to end decades of oppression, colonisation and dependency.
A series of presentations were then given on how Islam provides an alternative system to Capitalism and the current chaos in the Muslim world. Sajjad Khan elaborated how the system of governance in Islam is a truly accountable system, which cannot be manipulated by rich and powerful lobbies as seen in Western democracies. Against the backdrop of President Sarkosy's attack on Muslim women who wear niqaab and the martyrdom of Sister Marwa Sheerbani in a German courtroom, Dr Nasreen gave a powerful case for how Islam gave women rights, responsibilities and honour, and how the west's arguments about women's liberation can be seen as little more than a smokescreen for subjugating women to the desires of men and ‘the market'. Jamal Harwood, an expert on Islamic economics and editor of a recent report titled Global Financial crisis and the Islamic alternative, led a session where he gave Islamic solutions to a series of economic problems in the Muslim world including poverty alleviation, interest free banking, industrialization and role of the public and private sector in the Islamic economic system.
The delegates were reminded by Sheikh Issam Amireh from Jerusalem (Al-Quds) of the continued occupation of Palestine and how without a strong Islamic leadership the land of Palestine will never be liberated. Atif Salahuddin explained how the root cause of terrorism in Pakistan is the US presence in the region and as long as Karzai and Zardari continue their slavery to US objectives in the region the two countries will continue to spiral into chaos and instability.
The growing call for Khilafah "Caliphate" in the Muslim world is causing increasing anxiety in Western capitals. To thwart this call Western backed puppet rulers are doing everything to stop the political work of Hizb ut Tahrir. Despite all the torture and terror upon Hizb ut Tahrir members the Party's work continues to grow and its call is now embraced by millions of Muslims all over the world.
The conference highlighted how the method to re-establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" is based on the Life (Seerah) of the Prophet SAW, which clearly laid out a non-violent intellectual and political struggle to bring change. Hizb ut Tahrir has continued on this method for over 50 years and calls Muslims all over the world to this path for change.
The conference concluded by emphasizing the key role the Muslim community in the West plays in terms of supporting the call for Khilafah "Caliphate" in the Muslim world and carrying the Message of Islam to the wider non-muslim society, breaking the stereotypes and presenting Islam with sound argument and good example.
Twelve new publications were launched and the conference was attended by several international media outlets.
The conference was streamed live across the Internet and watched across the world.
The London Khilafah "Caliphate" (Caliphate) conference followed a month long series of conferences in Lebanon, Kuwait, Gaza, Sudan, Tanzania, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, US and Australia including a landmark gathering in Indonesia of thousands of leading scholars supporting the reestablishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate" and addressed by the global leader, Ameer of Hizb ut Tahrir, Sheikh Ata ar Rashta.
