To Conceal her Crime, Hasina Regime Blocked Al Jazeera News for Reporting the Involvement of Top Security Official and State Institutions in Abduction and Enforced Disappearance

In their desperation, the Hasina regime blocked international news media Al Jazeera for revealing the news on the involvement of state security apparatus in the crime of abduction and enforced disappearance (“Exclusive: Bangladesh top security adviser accused of abductions” Aljazeera.com, March 20, 2019). Since the current government assumed power in 2009, a good number of people including army officers have fallen victim to abduction and disappearance. The involvement of the plain-cloth law enforcers in this crime has been an open-secret for the people in Bangladesh who are already in panic due to this. But the investigative report of Al Jazeera made it clear that state institutions are being used in those abductions by the Hasina regime for furtherance of her political and other vested interests. Moreover, by blocking a news media that published a report against her, this government also proved once again that the so-called freedom of information is an illusion in the democratic system of ruling. The hypocrite rulers allow access only to that information that go in favor of them, whereas local media houses are already under their censorship and control. In fact, people have no access to the information about crimes organized and sponsored by the state apparatus. Hence there is no accountability on the abuse of power by the rulers.

O Journalist Brothers and Sisters, you bear the responsibility before the society that requires you to reveal the truth fearlessly. If you fail to freely discuss and criticize the activities of this totalitarian government, people will lose their trust on you, like how they already lost trust in politicians. Hence, you must resist any efforts of this government to introduce censorship on you as we know that security agencies do not let you convey truthful information. We in Hizb ut Tahrir urge you not to humiliate yourselves by being the spokesmen of this criminal government that forces you to hide the publicly important information or distort the facts which goes against objective journalism.

O Sincere Officers in the Military, how long it will take you to understand that Hasina government is pulling your professional integrity and military spirit apart by using you for realizing her political and business agenda. Can you not comprehend that by forcing you to stand against your countrymen, this government wants to destroy the civil-military relations and thereby making our national security vulnerable? O Officers, how can you remain silent whilst your security apparatus (DGFI) is being used to oppress people? And for how long will you help this tyrant regime whose vicious plot is to jeopardize our sovereignty by using you to betray the trust of the people? It is high time you stepped forward and rescued our people from this ruthless government by giving Nusrah (material support) to the Hizb ut Tahrir for the establishment of the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the way of Prophethood, which is the only way for success and honor.
