Many parents disagree over determining what is the desired conduct (sulouk) that children must adhere to and what is the unwanted conduct that children should abstain from. Their divergence stems from several bases such as customs, traditions, and the prevailing public opinion, and the systems and laws in force.

The great companion of the noble Prophet (saw) and fourth Khalifah of Islam, Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) once said, “Do not raise your children the way [your] parents raised you, they were born for a different time.”

‘Ideally, what should be said to every child, repeatedly, throughout his or her school life is something like this: "You are in the process of being indoctrinated. We have not yet evolved a system of education that is not a system of indoctrination. We are sorry, but it is the best we can do.

After the fall of the Taliban regime, the United States tried to claim that the educational system in Afghanistan has grown rapidly. They see the construction and rebuilding of some schools and the possibility of school attendance for a percentage of girls as their greatest success since the colonialisation. But a short overview of the Education System in the war-torn country shows that this so-called progress is only an illusion.
