Self-esteem refers to a person’s overall sense of their value or worth. It determines how much a person appreciates, likes, approves of, or prizes themselves. Individuals with high self-esteem (HSE), or an overall liking for themselves, are widely reported to be linked with all kinds of positive outcomes, such as academic achievement, interpersonal success, and happiness.

In May, Syria’s embattled leader, Bashar al-Assad visited Saudi Arabia for the Arab League Summit. This was a major diplomatic breakthrough for al-Assad who has faced a decade long uprising that saw his regime isolated in the region. His visit to Saudi Arabia is part of an overall normalisation process that has seen the Arab League recognise Syria back into its fold.

On May 7,2023, a 15-year-old girl in America was found dead in a dumpster after having been missing for three days. While murder of young adults is not that uncommon in America, this particular case struck me differently.
